Your Facility Is Saying More Than You Think
What does your building communicate before anyone talks to you?
A few weeks ago, we asked you to take a look around your facility.
This time! let's take that walk a little further.
Think about the experience of someone visiting your facility for the first time. Before they meet your team, shake a hand, make a phone call, or open your website, they're already getting an impression of your organization.
They see your parking lot.
They see your building.
They look for the entrance.
They follow your signs.
They walk into your lobby.
And all along the way, your facility is communicating.
The question is: Is it saying what you want it to say?

Start Outside
Imagine you're seeing your facility for the first time.
Can someone immediately tell they've arrived at the right place?
Is your building identification easy to see? Can visitors find the correct entrance?
Are parking areas, loading zones, and other important locations clearly marked?
Exterior signage isn't just about putting your name on a building. It's about helping people understand where they are and where they need to go.
And if your facility is difficult to find or navigate, that's the first impression you're giving visitors, before you've had a chance to make a better one.

Now step inside.
What does someone see when they enter?
Your lobby and reception area are some of the most valuable real-estate in your facility. They're an opportunity to reinforce your brand, establish professionalism, and make visitors feel like they've arrived somewhere intentional.
A blank wall is certainly functional.
But it could also be a dimensional logo.
A branded wall graphic.
A company history display.
A mission statement.
A combination of graphics and dimensional elements that makes the space unmistakably yours.
Your brand shouldn't disappear when someone walks through the front door.

Keep Walking
The lobby isn't the end of the experience.
As visitors move through your facility, they rely on signage to answer questions:
Where do I go?
What room am I looking for?
Where is the restroom?
Where is the exit?
Where should deliveries go?
Who works in this department?
That's where wayfinding, room identification, ADA signage, safety signage, window graphics, and other environmental graphics become more than decoration.
They make your facility easier to understand.
And when those signs are inconsistent, outdated, damaged, difficult to read, or simply missing, people notice, even if they don't consciously realize they're noticing.

Look at the Details
Here's where things get interesting.
Maybe your company changed its logo three years ago, but there's still an old version somewhere in the building.
Maybe your tenant directory lists businesses that moved out months ago.
Maybe there's a temporary paper sign that's been "temporary" for the last six months.
Maybe every department has a different style of room sign.
Maybe your exterior looks polished, but the interior feels completely disconnected from the brand.
None of these things necessarily feels like a major problem on its own.
But together, they tell a story.
Your facility is an extension of your organization. The condition, consistency, and clarity of the signage throughout that space can reinforce the image you're trying to build, or quietly work against it.

Give Your Facility a Signage Checkup
So take another walk.
Start outside and work your way in.
LOOK FROM THE PARKING LOT.
Can a first-time visitor identify your building?
LOOK AT THE ENTRANCE.
Is it obvious where people should enter?
LOOK AROUND THE LOBBY.
Does the space reflect your brand?
FOLLOW THE HALLWAYS.
Could someone unfamiliar with the building navigate it easily?
CHECK YOUR ROOM SIGNS.
Are they consistent, current, and easy to understand?
CHECK YOUR ADA & SAFETY SIGNAGE.
Is required information properly represented and maintained?
LOOK AT THE DETAILS.
Are anything faded, damaged, outdated, or being held together with tape?
And finally, ask yourself:
If this were the first time I had ever visited this facility, what would I think?
Your answer might surprise you.
The Right Sign in the Right Place
Your facility doesn't need more signs simply for the sake of having more signs.
It needs the right signs, in the right places, doing the right jobs.
At Koors Signs, we work with businesses, organizations, property managers, facilities teams, builders, and developers to create signage and graphics that work together.
from the parking lot to the lobby and everywhere in between.
Exterior identification.
Wayfinding.
ADA signage.
Dimensional lettering.
Window graphics.
Wall graphics.
Interior branding.
Safety and compliance signage.
One facility. One brand. One coordinated signage plan.
So take another look around.
You might discover that your facility has been telling a story you never intended to tell.
